Students smile on the bus for the first day of the school year

The Colorado Department of Education released its 2023 preliminary School and District Performance Framework, designating Lewis-Palmer School District 38 once again with the Accreditation with Distinction status.

Just 11 school districts across the state, or 6% of all districts, earned the Accreditation with Distinction designation in 2023.

“We have much to be proud of, and we are grateful to be named as Accredited with Distinction,” said Dr. KC Somers, District 38 Superintendent. “Our staff work tirelessly, and their efforts are seen and appreciated. Our entire district is also proud of our students for their hard work, as well as thankful to our families who support our work and bolster the successes of all students. District 38 still has room to grow, and we look forward to continuing to meet the changing needs of each and every student.”

Accredited with Distinction is the highest designation awarded by the state on its accountability performance framework, and Lewis-Palmer School District 38 is one of just four school districts to have earned the designation every year since the first framework was published in 2009. Only District 38, Telluride R-1, Cheyenne Mountain 12 and Academy School District 20 meet this criteria.

“Our staff will come together on September 1 for an all-staff rally, and while we will celebrate this win for our district and our students, we intend to focus our efforts now and moving forward on intensely innovating to continue moving the landscape of education forward to benefit our region’s students.”
